Thyme

General Information

Thyme is a perennial herb used in many regions of the world. It blends well when paired with other herbs. The leaves are removed from the stem in many cooking applications. However, the entire sprig (leaves plus stem) can be added to dishes and then removed before serving.

Storage Information

Thyme can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. For longer storage, thyme dries very well.

Cooking Suggestions

  • Thyme can be used to season soups, stews and meats.
  • Often paired with lamb, tomatoes and eggs.
  • If using dried to replace fresh in a recipe, use 1/3 the amount.
